Digital Preservation Network (DPN)

There is an ongoing outreach for resources to build DPN and also presentations at AAU. Rumor is that U Presidents text each other asking if anyone is a DPN member. The message goal was to make sure that the presidents at the meeting last week were there because they believed in DPN.

The Working groups are chugging along. DPN has one employee working towards developing "a digital preservation backbone for the academy." There are DPN technical partners and one strategic partner–DuraSpace.

"Forever" is an untested construct.

Technical deliverables list:

--Scaling issue

--"Brightening" tools and methods. This is non-trivial.

--It will preserve whatever you deposit (good and bad thing). Does not "fix" anything.

--"limited beta" release at CNI member meeting
