Binary and Description as Same and Separate resources

In some interactions, binaries and descriptions are treated as though they were a single resource, while in others they are handled independently. The following lists document which interactions fall into each category:

Binary and Description as the same resource

  • Creation of original
  • Creation of memento from original
  • Enabling/disabling versioning
  • Deletion
  • Deletion of memento
  • Access control

Binary and Description as separate resources

  • HEAD/GET requests (except for a few headers)
  • PUT/PATCH to update content
  • Creation of historic mementos
  • Timemaps/timegates
  • No labels
