Where/When did the addListener and removeListener in PersistentStorage come from? These diagrams are nice, but with no history each time I come back I have to re-read the entire thing as changes are obscure.

Can you describe the ReadOptions and what the thought is it would contain?

Sure: The read options would allow users to retrieve more or less detail related to the resource. For example, the user may want to see SERVER_MANAGED, USER_MANAGED, and HEADERS. Or maybe just the BINARY_STREAM.
