Review actions from 2018-10-12 Cornell LD4P2 Meeting notes

  • Steven FolsomLC Names is in QA without going thru context workflow. Steven Folsomwill work with Huda Khan to set up.
    • No progress except analysis on feedback from catalogers to Astrid/Huda about using 3xx fields, need to find equivalents in RDF
  • Tim Worrall would like to convert drawing from the wall; will add to the Sinatra repo, as well
    • Not sure of status

    • Create ticket for QA refactor work (est 2 weeks)
    • Jason starting work on getting records to Casailini, will need to work out how to stage data we get back from Casalini

Status updates and planning

  • LD4P2 meeting post-mortem
    • Cohort members asked for more homework
      • Suggestion from Huda was to suggest that they look at vanilla BFE
      • Keep discussion of requests for authority support requests (we have one since the meeting)
    • Considerable interest in ILS integration though we have limited effort to work on this
    • Need more work on scoping of enhanced discovery work. Need to connect the work we are doing on enhancing data in RDF with better features
    • Some good developer discussions, should have more time at the next meeting for high-bandwidth time
    • Need to promote reuse of shared profiles within cohort before work on specific changes for different institutions
  • Authority Lookups for Sinopia (Production QA instance: https://github.com/cul-it/qa_server/issues/)
  • Prep for Cataloging Sinatra and other 45's (Discogs data)
    • Steven is working through understanding of LC description of sound recordings, thinking carefully in places where we might deviate from profile. Will have Tim implement the mapping to BF.
    • Lynette and Tim had discussion of architectural issues, open questions about what Sinopia needs to be able to copy data in. Steven and SImeon to explore what BFE does to frame questions going forward
  • Enhanced Discovery
    • Still on back burner pending new ideas for D&A and discussion with Stanford
  • Travel and meetings
    • LD4P2 Cornell Meeting Attendances
    • Ryan Shaw's invitation to propose a US2TS talk on editors. Deadline of Halloween.
      • Steven will reach out to Astrid about possible Stanford participation and will coordinate proposal

Next meetings:

  • 2018-10-26 – back at the ranch (Huda will be out  the morning of 10/26 but can probably attend last half hour of 10/26 meeting. I'll send updates/questions beforehand)
  • 2018-10-26 - Jason may be out
