Upcoming conference 10/31: Collaborative Software Development to Address Strategic Challenges in Higher Education: Kuali, VIVO and UCosmic

Agenda

  1. Call for topics?
  2. Conceptual level vs. implementation level: For example, the relationship between a person and a grant that specifies the role of the person, the time span for which the relationship holds, and, in some cases, the amount of money attributable to the persons work on the grant is an issue at the conceptual level. In the limited world of RDF triples, one needs to reify the relationship between the grant and the person in order to represent this information. In a relational database these data could be represented more easily. The work presented here, in the VIVO-ISF, and as it relates to other vocabularies is on the conceptual level.
  3. Discussion of bibliographic representation
    1. What are the requirements for publication information to be ISF compliant? Discuss attribution of specific contributions- should these be data properties or specific roles?
    2. Alignment of ISF with BIBO, CITO (see http://sempublishing.sourceforge.net/)
    3. Publication types -- see Google doc at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqosQY8NM9BGdExJb0dSYjlOQnAteEQ5N0F2aE5YZmc&usp=sharing
    4. Discuss attribution of specific contributions- should these be data properties or specific roles?
    5. Laure Haak's blog on ORCID IDs in the publishing workflow: http://orcid.org/blog/2013/08/08/suggested-practices-collection-and-display-orcid-ids-publishing-workflows
  4. Further discussion of grants?
  5. Report on CASRAI conference
  6. Update on VIVO director search
