Nightly change report

back up to User Stories: Defining features and functionality VIVO needs - September 2011

User types involved

Narrative User Story (for sharing/review/voting)

Background

A nightly report that collects daily changes to the data in VIVO would be very useful for the following reasons:

  1. Guides technical staff to maintain the data more effectively and improve data quality
  2. Helps policy holders to understand the behaviors of the users, and improve the usability as needed
  3. Tracks unusual usage behaviors

Wish list for improvement

This report collects all the changes made to the data in VIVO during the day. The daily reports are archived and compressed after 7 days. Non-compressed reports will be viewable from the VIVO interface. Archives older than 90 days will be discarded.

Technical considerations

This should be similar to what is described in the "Logging system to track changes" page.

Priority or staging considerations

See issue NIHVIVO-3566, part of the "Site management and operational improvements" component. Note that this functionality depends on the "RDF API" component for VIVO 1.5
