Project Governance

Each DuraSpace project has a governance model. This representative, community-based model includes several governing groups with various levels of responsibility (identifying project strategic direction, setting project roadmap, establishing project budget, etc.). Eligibility to serve in project governance is determined by participation in the DuraSpace Membership Program, incrementally enabling member organizations who have made the greatest commitments (financial or in-kind staff commitments) to the project. It is NOT TOO LATE to become a Member and participate in the Fedora project governance! For more information on how to become a Member visit http://duraspace.org/about_membership. And for more information about the new governing groups, please visit http://fedorarepository.org/governance

Vacant Steering Group Seats

If a Steering Group member steps down from the group before the end of their three year term a process will begin based on the following criteria:

  1. If the remaining term is less than 1 year and more than 3 months, a new representative will be elected via a special election for the remaining term followed by a full 3 year term
  2. If the remaining term is greater than 1 year, a new representative will be elected via a special election for the remaining term alone
  3. If the remaining term is less than 3 months, the position will be left open until the next election cycle

Special elections will follow the same rules described under Steering Group Nominations above.
