Overview

VIVO uses a large number of classes from several different ontologies to represent scholarship.  See The Source ontologies for VIVO.  The classes and their ontologies are shown in the figure below.  You may have additional classes as a result of local extensions.

VIVO Classes

The figure below shows the classes in VIVO.  It is being revised.  The following revisions will be made:

1. The figure includes classes not in VIVO.  These will be removed.
2. The figure does not include all classes in VIVO.  These will be added.
3. The figure does not use the actual name of the class in all cases.  This will be corrected.  When a class has a numeric name, the numeric name and the corresponding text name will be provided.  For example  obo:ARG2000028 "has contact info"

These corrections are minor.  The figure is substantially correct.
