The following is a list of the new features included for release 3.0 (not an exhaustive list):

• Completely rewritten OAI-PMH interface.  See: OAI 2.0 Server
• Item Level Versioning
• Enhancements to Discovery (faceted / filtered search system)
  
  • Support for hit highlighting & search snippets
  • Discovery is now supported for JSPUI (previously was XMLUI only)
• Advanced Embargo Support
• Enhancements to DSpace Statistics
  
  • Default statistics (with SOLR backend) now track search queries & workflow events
  • Enhanced performance (with SOLR backend)
  • Option to utilize Elastic Search backend instead of default Apache SOLR backend
• Batch import for Bibliographic formats (Endnote, BibTex, RIS, TSV, CSV)
• Google Analytics support for JSPUI (previously was XMLUI only)
• Controlled Vocabulary Support for XMLUI (previously was JSPUI only)
• Type based Submissions. See Submission User Interface
• Better encryption for locally stored passwords. See Authentication by Password
• New UI theme for mobile devices.
• Support for Java 7 and OpenJDK
