What is Project Governance?

The DSpace project governance establishes the

  • Principles and goals for the project
  • Strategic direction and product roadmap
  • Accountability
  • Sustainability plan
  • Management decision framework
  • Means of conducting operations

Governance is based on a representative, community-based membership model incrementally rewarding members who have made the greatest commitments to the project.

Project Governance Groups

  • DSpace Steering Group - The Steering Group provides project oversight and ensures that the priorities of the members are met
  • DSpace Leadership Group - The Leadership Group approves the overall priorities and strategic direction of the project
  • Working Groups
    • DSpace Committers - The Committers review and approve all code changes to the system. They are the technology leaders of the project.
    • DSpace Community Advisory Team (DCAT) - DCAT represents the interests of repository managers and administrators across the globe and, indirectly, DSpace end users. 
      • Meeting Notes: DCAT Meetings (all meetings are public, anyone is welcome)
    • DSpace Ambassadors - The Ambassadors provide outreach and general support on behalf of DSpace to countries and regions throughout the world.
