Lynette learned a lot from the wikidata sessions, good attendance and BoF session. Difficulties of choice between SPAQRL which gives RDF but is not performant or up-to-date, and API which is not RDF. Still plan to cache to have integration via DAVE (Dave exploring potential incremental update strategies), still explore whether there are direct queries that could work. Lynette putting in request to get more QA-like results (RDF results with the ability to subset by entity types). Paul Walk interested in access from QA.
Huda noted TAMU work on author disambiguation in repository. Discovery BoF very good, lots of discussion of workflows and debate of data to use. Significant community around these issues.
Good ethics discussions – debate around linking even to deceased persons interesting and good to see community discussion
Multilingual data and discovery, use of VIAF to link data from different national libraries mentioned several times
LC commented that they want input from real world experience creating BF data. Interest from rare materials community, including ARM, about finding ways forward.
Everyone should add presentations to the LD4P presentation list
Steven: I’ve been plugging away at the LDPath in the context spreadsheet; the SVDE tab is done, LCNAF is complete for Persons and Organizations (still have a handful of classes that represent smaller slices of that dataset, then moving on to LCGFT and other LC vocabs).
ON HOLD pending more work in Sinopia to import data.
The import data functionality (sometimes called "cloning") has been pushed off to milestone 5 for Sinopia so we cannot do Discogs integration based on the expect Sinopia release this summer. Next work cycle not scheduled until late Fall. Will need to decide how to move forward with cataloging experiments (perhaps start with 4 (8% of 50) records not in Discogs?) and/or whether to hack up some import for our work specifically
Michelle (2019-03-21, email): "June in-person partner meeting in DC: planning hasn't started yet, it would be good to have at least one person from each of Cornell/Harvard/Iowa SLIS/LC/PCC/Stanford involved in the planning. Let me know if you want to take part."
Partner meeting is day after cohort
Cohort discussion topics:
How do we handle SHARE-VDE data for cohort institutions in QA? Should these appear as a separate "authority" for each institution or as one commingled set? The latter is perhaps better for taking advantage of reconciliation and promoting improved ways of working with linked data
Other meetings
Blacklight Summit will be at Duke, dates not yet announced (Code4Lib slack indicates late fall/October perhaps)
Huda and/or Tim? Not sure whether a co-located BL ld4 workshop could happen
European Bibframe summit in September, call for proposals expected soon
Jason considering ARM/rare-cohort proposal
SWIB19 25-27 November (Thanksgiving week ) - call is out, deadline is May 12
Possibility of QA + Dave in container
