As the VIVO program evolves, it is important to develop software applications that can consume VIVO data from its semantic linked-data source and provide useful, and easy to use, services for the research enterprise. These applications can easily reside modularly within Web 2.0 content management systems (CMS). Miles Worthington of Cornell is working on a Drupal module to consume raw VIVO profile data of version 1.1 of the VIVO1 application. Having a Joomla!2/HUBzero3 version of this application will provide a tool for additional communities of researchers, particularly those that use HUBzero-based virtual organization portals, extending the reach of VIVO and serving these communities. We propose to develop a Joomla! extension of the VIVO application integrated with HUBzero. This software will become part of the HUBzero software roadmap and will thus be sustained and be available for those who want to use Joomla! sites without HUBzero.

The HUBzero platform is an evolution of the nanoHUB.org4 web site, which was developed by the Network for Computational Nanotechnology, supported by the NSF as an infrastructure and research network since September 2002 under awards EEC-0228390 and EEC-0634750.
