Happy VIVO New Year!  I hope everyone had a great holiday and is looking forward to a great 2016.  In the past few months, VIVO has had a new software release, 1.8.1, a new web site, and a new registry of VIVO sites.  VIVO is at 133 organizations in 23 countries around the world.  Is your site listed in the registry?  Is your information correct?  It takes a minute to either add or update your information.

All calls moving to Thursday at 1 PM.  To simplify participation in the project, we are making several changes to the VIVO work groups.  First, we are changing their names to interest groups.  We hope this more accurately reflects the nature of the calls – all calls are open – there is no need to join, or sign up.  Just dial-in and be on the call.  You can listen or participate as you choose.  We have four calls each month.  

• On the first Thursday of every month we have the Outreach and Engagement call.  Chaired by Julia Trimmer of Duke and Kristi Holmes of Northwestern, this call focuses on working with the people at your institution who are represented in your VIVO.  
• Development calls will be held the second Thursday of every month – including this coming Thursday.  Chaired by Graham Triggs, the VIVO Technical Lead, these calls will focus on the development of VIVO, Vitro and the Harvester and will include technical issues related to code development, the JIRA issue tracker, GitHub, Maven, and Java code development.  
• On the third Thursday of each month, we will have the Implementation calls, chaired by Paul Albert of Weill Cornell Medical College.  All sites, including those brand new to VIVO are welcome to share their questions and experiences regarding VIVO implementation.
• Fourth Thursdays are the Apps and Tools calls, chaired by Chris Barnes of the University of Florida, and Ted Lawless of Thomson Reuters.  These calls feature software being developed by the community for use with VIVO, including reporting, visualizations, expert finding, ingest tools and others.
