Este PopeAmherst CollegeHead of Digital ProgramsComing from Amherst College, one of my hopes is to help represent the needs and concerns of liberal arts colleges and smaller institutions. I am also interested in developing the roadmap and strategic direction for Fedora. I am excited to work with developers and colleagues to see the next phase of Fedora come to fruition. I started my career as a systems librarian supporting digital repositories and digital library development, and now that I am working with Fedora directly I couldn’t be more pleased. In addition to enjoying the technical aspects of Fedora, I like to think about the ways Fedora and related tools enable users to access digital content and aid in preserving digital content. I’m also interested in how open source software impacts library digital collections and resource allocation. It is professionally gratifying for me to be involved in the Fedora community, and I would be glad to further support the work by serving on the Steering committee. Thank you for your consideration!
Maurice YorkUniversity of MichiganAssociate University Librarian for Library Information TechnologyThe University of Michigan Library is relatively new to the Fedora community, having adopted Fedora as a strategic part of our repository direction within the last two years. Though we are young in Fedora, we are a large shop, with twenty years of experience in building repositories and provisioning digital collections. We joined the Fedora community (and Samvera/Hydra at the same time) with great enthusiasm and a sense of commitment to helping improve the whole. We firmly believe in deep investment in both communities. A number of my colleagues are engaged across the Samvera community; I am especially focused on contributing to the success and sustainability of Fedora. We are steadily building our technical experience, capabilities, and capacity for contributing to both Fedora and Samvera. Over and above technical contributions, I believe we have the responsibility, capacity, and resources to contribute to leadership, sustainability, direction, and community growth. I have been part of the Leadership Group for about two years, and have spent much of that time learning, observing, and building relationships. I would be honored to take the next step towards deeper engagement by joining the Steering Group.
Robin RuggaberUniversity of VirginiaLibrary Chief Technical OfficerAs a founding member of Fedora, the University of Virginia is committed to Fedora and aligned project success. My involvement with the community began 6 years ago and I quickly recognized the value not only of the product but that of the community and what we could achieve together. Most significantly I have focused on providing development resources and working with steering  to overhaul governance, finances, and revitalize the community.  I am passionate about community driven open source and the core mission to provide robust, sustainable solutions that afford Libraries, Archives and Museums more control and less risk in the management and preservation of their digital assets. I see Fedora's evolution over the past few years to exemplify how a product can evolve to the realization of a timeless vision. Fedora is the core element in the UVa Library's technical architecture. I have a couple of decades experience managing technologies, architecting and directing solution development which I think has aided my work. But more than anything I believe in our shared mission and approach.
Rosalyn MetzEmory UniversityDirector of Library Technology and Digital StrategiesI am the Director of Library Technology and Digital Strategies at Emory University in Atlanta. I lead a diverse cross-functional team at the university to provide support for the library's technology.  Currently the library is embarking on a multi-year effort to implement a Fedora/Samvera based repository.  Ultimately, we seek to preserve content for all of the libraries, archives, and museums on campus. I have been involved in digital repositories and digital preservation in various roles throughout my career -- in operations and infrastructure management, project, product, and service management, and through my work with DPN.  Fedora's extensible architecture and support for linked data make it a key component of digital repositories and digital libraries. Therefore, I believe it is up to us, the cultural heritage institutions that support Fedora, to ensure its long-term stewardship and continued success well into the future.
