We are focused on ongoing strategic initiatives, including:

  • Making terrific headway on our annual membership campaign. Overall, DuraSpace has achieved 85% of its membership goals to date. We look forward to keeping that momentum going as we continue our campaign between now and October.
  • Electing new leadership groups and facilitating development sprints for DSpace, Fedora and VIVO.
  • Working with TU Berlin (Technical University Berlin) to create the first consortial membership: we are very pleased to welcome 24 German Institutions to the DSpace community. We are confident that their contributions and participation will help DSpace achieve important goals in the coming year! Special thanks to Pascal-Nicolas Becker, for helping to coordinate with the Technical University Berlin to make this achievement possible.
  • Continuing our international outreach initiatives with a tremendous event in Lima, Peru where about 300 representatives from all Peruvian universities attended a DSpace Workshop (delivered in collaboration with Joan Caparros from CSUC, the Catalan Consortium of Universities). This DSpace Workshop was the first one in the country with the most attendees in DSpace history. The event was hosted by CONCYTECthe Peruvian Council for Science and Technological Information, as a pre-conference event during their National Conference on Research Information. The conference, attracted more than 500 attendees and was a great opportunity for DuraSpace to meet with the Peruvian community of users, to listen to and learn about their needs and expectations. At the same time it event strengthened our international collaboration with other organizations such as  euroCRISCOARORCIDLA Referencia. These organizations all presented their views and activities related to the research information and scholarly ecosystem, as well as our Service Providers who are active in the Region. Among them, 4Science delivered a , as well as, service providers such as 4Science. The delivered a full DSpace-CRIS workshop as a pre-conference event.Electing new leadership groups and facilitating development sprints for DSpace, Fedora and VIVO.
  • Providing open project consulting to groups such as the ARKs-in-the-Open project, which recently held its inaugural advisory group meeting to kick-off a new community management approach.

As we continue to work on these initiatives as well as on new and emerging opportunities, DuraSpace staff and board members remain grateful for our community’s financial support, and for their engagement in our work aimed at providing enduring access to the world’s digital heritage.
