The event was freely accessible through the organization's social networks.

In this training, the technical expert in DSpace 7, Julián Timal, addressed important points such as the evolution, features, and most recent versions of DSpace 7.

He explained that there are two main interfaces: an older version and a new interface developed in Angular. The new interface allows separating the back-end server (which can continue to be Java) from the front-end, providing more flexibility and efficiency in handling requests. He also discussed the history of DSpace, highlighting its evolution since 2002, with improvements in integration, authorizations, and technological changes, such as the adoption of Angular for the front-end from 2016. The most recent version of DSpace (version 7.6.1) that incorporates updates to correct vulnerabilities was mentioned.

Other functionalities such as the management of metadata schemas were addressed, where more schemas are now included by default. The functioning of integration with OAI-PMH in the backend and the possibility of creating specific forms by entity type, which allows collecting different types of metadata as needed, were explained.

The importance of entities and extended metadata in the context of new generation repositories was mentioned, highlighting the interaction with external systems such as ORCID.

Finally, Julián opened a question and answer section in which two questions were addressed: the first about the key functionalities of Dispace 7 as a storage and data management platform, and the second about how Dispace 7 guarantees the preservation and security of the stored data. At the end of the event, participants were invited to stay tuned for the following DSpace 7 activities to continue resolving doubts.
