VIVO is an open source, semantic-web tool for research and scholarship discovery. VIVO supports (pronunced vee-voh) is member-supported, open source software and an ontology for representing scholarship.  VIVO supports recording, editing, searching, browsing and visualizing research activity and discovering linkages among people, programs, funding, scholarly works, events across disciplines at one institution or, through a prototype at vivosearch.org, across a distributed set of organizations. VIVO's search returns results faceted by type for rapid retrieval of desired informationscholarly activity. VIVO encourages research discovery, expert finding, network analysis and assessment of research impact.  VIVO is easily extended to support additional domains of scholarly activity.

  • Understanding how VIVO fits into several quite different environments, from small research organizations to whole universities and distributed consortia
