This page will list current versions and releases of Spotlight and related software.  Institutions that may have a "forked" version of the software may want to list it here as well.  This information will help sites plan for new releases and keep their curators informed about upcoming features and versions.

Technical overview of Spotlight

On November 28, 2017, Travis Lilleberg posted a Spotlight Resource Overview on the Spotlight Community Slack channel.  It is included here for convenience and as a reference.  Travis has indicated he will continue to refine this diagram.

Current Project Release

As indicated on the Project Blacklight site for Spotlight, the current release in the Github Repository is v1.4.1 (correction:  v2.x is the latest).   Please see the Release Notes for details.

Developer Information

The developer community has regularly scheduled calls to discuss the Spotlight Application as well as the ecosystem that surrounds it.  A link to their notes page is provided here for convenience.  Please watch the Blacklight Developer Google Group for details on developer calls and Spotlight Application updates.

From Cathy Aster:

We've received numerous requests, and we're happy to share our inception deck and sprint demos from our current development work underway on Spotlight here at Stanford (https://github.com/sul-dlss/exhibits). The inception deck provides key context: http://bit.ly/2hV3xPS. Sprint demo playlist is here: http://bit.ly/2zs1hqP

Brainstorming Ideas

At the November 3, 2017 Service and Collections call, there was a brainstorming session on what the group wanted to accomplish.  The list is in the minutes for the meeting.  The group also decided to create a poll to help prioritize this list and identify issues that are most important for our institutions.  A link to the poll will be added when we are ready for review. Here is the link to the Google Doc that has our notes.

We have broken out the topics into TWO (2) broad areas as outlined below.

Please feel free to update or add items and comments.
