November highlights include community and project-focused activities and news about the future of DuraSpace leadership:

  • I'm happy to announce I was appointed the DuraSpace Executive Director this month.  I'm looking forward to connecting with members at the CNI fall meeting in Washington, D.C. and would love to hear from members before then too. Having emerged from our transition period, the entire team is excited to move ahead with our good work and look ahead to the future of the organization. 
  • DSpace, Fedora and VIVO Leadership Group chairs discuss priorities here (to come).
  • Fedora 5.0 is currently in release testing.
  • DSpace seeks host organization for the 2019 North American DSpace User Group Meeting.[needs to be updated with the new host]

2018 Membership Campaign (please update)

We are in the final days of the active 2018-19 DuraSpace Membership Campaign and are within $53,000 of our goal! Here's where we are by project: 

Total: $1,087,773; 166 unique members ; 95% of goal 

    • DSpace: $299,524; 85 members ; 116% of goal / I would suggest to consider all the members, including the German ones that form the Consortium. I think the total should be around 86 members. On our website we're listing all of the German institutions because we consider them members. It's also a good message to the community, seeing that we moved from below 60 to over 85
    • Fedora: $508,167; 74 members; 89% of goal
    • VIVO: $179,083; 23 members; 86% of goal
    • General: $101,000; 21 members; 97% of goal

A Members-Only Hot Topics Webinar 


On Wednesday, December 5th at 12:00 p.m. EST, our Hot Topics Series, "The Revolution Will Be Open?" will conclude.  Members are invited to register for, "How For-Profit Companies Can Be a Part of the Open Environment.” In this webinar, we'll explore how  for-profit business models can be compatible with participating in the Open Access revolution.
