Spotlight (see Gihub repository) is an open source application – a plugin to Blacklight – that allows librarians, curators, and content experts to showcase and contextualize digital collections using self-service workflows. The Spotlight Community is comprised of an ecosystem of IT service managers, software developers, user experience designers, collection managers and more. To foster greater community collaboration and leverage our collective expertise, this wiki is intended as a key venue to share information cross-institutionally. This space is intended to grow organically and change over time to support the needs of the community.

SAVE THE DATE!

Dear Spotlight adopters & the Spotlight-curious,

We, the Spotlight-focused teams at Harvard and Stanford, have been meeting regularly in this last quarter of 2023 to plan a unique event: the “Spotlight on Spotlight” summit, scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.

Our goals for this summit are:

  • To rejuvenate the community forum around Spotlight, encouraging sharing and collaboration.

  • To provide an engaging platform for those who are curious about Spotlight.

  • To revisit and update the Spotlight Community Roadmap that was initiated in 2019, and identify the priorities of our community.

  • To gauge interest and availability for a focused community sprint.

The summit will consist of 3 one-hour sessions, spaced approximately 2 weeks apart.

  • 25 Jan, 8 Feb, 22 Feb 2024

  • 10:00 am PST, 11:00 am MST, 12:00 pm CST, 1:00 pm EST

Rest assured, all sessions will be facilitated, have clear agendas, dedicated note-takers, and will be recorded for future reference.

We sincerely hope you'll consider joining us for this exciting event. Let's put the spotlight back on Spotlight together! Stay tuned for a January 2024 reminder with additional details.

Best Regards,

Cathy Aster, Stanford University

Vanessa Venti, Harvard University
