Agenda for 12/18 VIVO-ISF Ontology Working Group call

Release 1.6 update

  • new ontology file for available for browsing, but no automated way to create it

  • can we put up something like the eagle-i ontology browser?

  • what’s been happening with eagle-i -- no funding but progressing through effort at OHSU and Harvard -- deriving an eagle-i application file out of the ISF

    • a mechanism is needed to update the Mireot files for dealing with imported ontologies

    • presentation by Matt on what’s being done on the eagle-i side

    • overview by Brian of how the ISF is managed in VIVO
  • any plans for migration from Google code to GitHub -- we’ll be ready to start having other people contributing to the editing beyond Brian and Shahim

    • Google Code is Subversion underneath

    • some people have a learning curve with GitHub, but tools such as SourceTree are making it easier; Git has a very nice integrated documentation

Review of interest group work

  • Bibliographic representation

  • Grants & projects

  • Organization ontology (including providing feedback to the W3C working group)

  • continued progress on representing the humanities

Opportunities for engagement

  • requirements gathering and review

  • incrementally improving documentation

  • Implementation Fest sessions

Unaddressed issues for the 1.6 or 1.7 releases from JIRA
