Notes

  1. UCSF – how do you on board new people with Profiles?
    1. HR signals hire, publication/disambiguation begins filling new profile
    2. New faculty member auto-contacted by email which includes other "new to UCSF" info, and click to edit Profiles link
  2. Cornell on boarding
    1. Feed from HR
    2. All happens at the college level.  Colleges opt in.  In college opts in, faculty are in
    3. Support runs through college communications office.
    4. Departments manage the faculty member's data under the auspices of the college
  3. McMaster
    1.  5,400 faculty, includes clinical faculty
    2. Expected launch Sept 1
    3. Lots to do
  4. UAB
    1. 3,500
    2. Sept 1
  5. Mike raised a problem with presentations – what if there are many presentations to add?  Mike has about 400 to add to his profile, repository, and CV
    1. The group discussed figshare:
      1. creates DOI
      2. has an open API
      3. Has a drag and drop interface
      4. But doesn't ask the questions needed for presentations – when, and where, and invited and/or international (often needed in local reporting scenarios)
    2. Local repos often don't have these features
    3. Would need a special web site to collect data from log on, form the material. and from the presenter (always the last resort, keep this to a minimum) that can take the material and put it in a repository (figshre, local, slideshare, other) and/or a CV, and/or a profile system, or a CRIS, or wherever it was needed.
    4. The idea was presented at Open Repositories last year and won the Innovation Challenge there.  Presentation is here:
