ufVivo:ExcludeEntity usage
ExcludeEntity restricts the appearance of entities in the search index. An initial search will return these results, but limiting search to people or another category will hide them.
Criteria for inclusion
Entities in this class must:
- Contain no substantial information beyond 1 or 2 fields (Label, property link to another class)
- Not (likely to be) searched for manually
- Not (likely to be) self-edited (by the entity they represent)
- Not be a part of UF (all UF classes should eventually be given detail)
Current entities given ExcludeEntity class
- Authors of publications (Person or Organization) (harvested from PubMed) that don't already exist in VIVO. These have no substantial information other than a link to a publication.
Entities that should receive ExcludeEntity class
- Grant awarding organizations (non-UF) lacking substantial information. This includes ones with truncated, all-caps names ("US DEPT HOUSING AND URBAN DEV"). Possibility of merging and filling out these entities in the future.
- Possibly include non-UF organizations such as colleges, universities. These clutter up search results and it is unlikely that people will search for them in the UF VIVO.
- Geographical entities (Argentina, Americas, FAO, etc.) would be good to add, but may be searched for by people looking at international programs. If a more advanced search functionality (GRANTS in COUNTRY) is added then consider.
