Community at large nominations to the DSpace Leadership Group 2023/24

DSpace is seeking two individuals from the community to be active participants in the future of the program by serving as members of the DSpace Leadership Group.

Beginning today, we invite anyone in the DSpace community to nominate an individual who you believe would be a good representative of the community (self-nominations are welcome).

Individuals serving in the Leadership Group play a key role in setting the strategic direction and priorities of the program through the approval of the annual budget allocation and program roadmap and in establishing the annual community direction.

Ideal candidates should be familiar with DSpace and have an interest in being engaged with key program's decisions and the broader user community. It is also helpful if the candidate has fiscal or staffing responsibility within their organization and is able to bring the commitment, creativity, and dedication that the role calls for.

Learn more about the DSpace Leadership Group at: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Leadership+Group.

Please submit your nomination using this form by Monday October 16, 2023.

Next Steps
At the end of the nomination process the Leadership Group will choose the two candidates based on experience, geographic representation and engagement with the DSpace Community.

If you have any questions about the project governance or the nomination and election process please contact me.

Thank you,
Michele

Updates on old business:

  • UX/Usability Testing (Erica)
    • We need to bring a "what do we want to test" document to the usability group
    • Find group of people in DCAT - get with your stakeholders and find out what you are hearing from patrons, e.g. people frustrated with the search (search for a collection, not just browse), then meet and move forward with usability group
    • People in the call can volunteer to work with Erica
    • Erica is willing to support someone else who leads the effort, if someone is available to run with this
      • Federico can collect issues on DSpace 7
      • Idea of institutional survey
