Notes

    • Melissa comments on Relationship, BFO, and ERO.  Are VIVO-ISF and ERO actively maintained? Comment regarding BFO lacking “relationship” and other entities needed to represent scholarship.  BFO agrees, as does this group -- VIVO has “relationship”, but it appears that it should be an occurrent,

    • Barry Smith reached out to Brian about VIVO 2 and BFO becoming and ISO standard.  He had seen mention of the VIVO 2 work and offered to help with how BFO might be changing.  Offered to share a draft of the standard.

Unrealized Roles.  Mike asked about use of unrealized roles.  Can we say “Mike bear_of StatisticianRole” or “NIH Bearer_of “FunderRole” without providing a realization?  This appears to have desirable consequences -- we can have a controlled vocabulary of roles which serve as indicators of expertise.  That they roles are unrealized could be an indicator that more information is desirable, but unavailable. Brian suggested that there was nothing “wrong” with unrealized roles.  In early VIVO development there was concern about using roles in positions and with leaving some things unsettled to support use. There are titles, positions, roles and other indicators of participation without specificity of a realized role.

Research Administration Ontology?  KDSF in Germany -- not an ontology, aligned with CERIF -- there is a mapping from KDSF to CERIF (example property https://www.kerndatensatz-forschung.de/version1/technisches_datenmodell/index.html#http://kerndatensatz-forschung.de/owl/Basis#Drittmittelprojekt), but is an OWL file?  CASRAI? Mike can add links to the CASRAI analyses.

    The five term model.
