Time

  • 10:00am Eastern/14:00 UTC

Dial-in

  • (209) 647-1600, participant code 373133, host code: 560833 (can be done via Skype - for directions: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/cmtygp/DCAT+Conference+Call+Dial-in).
  • Please note that we have been having lots of connectivity issues with the "freeconferencecallhd.2096471600" Skype dial-in lately. Generally you can get on, but Skype seems to boot you off at regular intervals. To avoid the frustration we recommend dialing in via a Skype phone call -- simply use the Skype dial pad and dial the USA # 209-647-1600 and then the conference code # as prompted. You will need to have a Skype account with money in it in order to place this kind of call -- and it will likely be about 3 cents a minute, depending on where you are calling from. We are looking for other solutions to the problem -- and also for your suggestions if you know of other solutions.

531 - Sarah P to reinforce DCAT interest

3) Updating Qualified Dublin Core

Notes from discussion during DCAT Sept 4 mtg:

-propose we migrate from QDC rather than migrate to DC terms - QDC could help map to DC later

-should DC registry be locked down?

--require split of locked down schema

--in DC namespace now - have a element and a qualifier - retain DSpace's version of DC -

--allow adding "embargo" or "advisor" - not qualified for DC currently, have local schema for qualifier

--locked down of DC schema namespace that DSpace uses, and allow the adding of another local schema namespace better documented/easier (how to do crosswalks, mix/match schemas) - make it so it doesn't affect in several places

--need separate category for administrative metadata

-First step - clean up what we ship with, lock it down (element or element and qualifier?), separate from local schema (ship with standardized skeleton schema),  cookbook of how to do

-lock down at element level, not sure about qualifier level

-how to update during upgrade? need a tool

-new namespace - dc terms namespace - run scripts to find current metadata and create new namespace to dc terms - doesn't change

-ability to more easily add new namespaces

-migration pain - backward compatability

-how strict do we want to be - i.e., qualifying roles - is "advisor" or "degree" appropriate? traditionally DSpace has shipped with older version - what really is the goal? what steps do we want to take

--std schema applied in a std way, helps us add schemas in the future

-DC vs. other namespaces

-what does it take to start with a std schema and what does

4) JIRA workflow

5) Overlap discussion

-do they need feedback on any features they are trying to finish?

6) Thurs/Fri discussion
