Steering Updates  Text of story 1

Mark Fallu is the Digital and IT Lead for Research at the University of Melbourne.  Mark is a higher education research technology specialist, having spent 13 years building tools to support and profile research. His current focus is on implementing modern platforms for the management of and administration of research, and developing strategies to quantify and characterize research impact.  Mark has deep experience with VIVO, having developed the internationally recognized Research-Hub at Griffith University and the VIVO user and developer communities more generally.

Mark Newton is the director of the Center for Digital Research and Scholarship at Columbia University Libraries, where his work is focused on building programs and services that promote the broad reach and impact of scholarship. Among his efforts there, he has been involved in the promotion and development of Columbia’s open access repository, its library publishing program, and a number of faculty-sponsored digital scholarship web sites. He looks forward to working with the VIVO steering group to promote the model of open standards and tools that advance the communication of scholars.

Paul Albert works on the VIVO implementation at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. A leader of the Implementation Interest Group, Paul has worked on the project since the NIH grant. Paul has over 23,000 emails with “VIVO” in the subject or body; he regularly prints out these emails and puts them into a scrapbook keepsake.
